The Shape of Tanqueray

This one’s been in the works for a while. Between commercial shoots and moving office, it took a bit of juggling to bring it together but I’m glad I made the time. No brief, no deadline just a personal project focused on something I’ve always wanted to shoot.

The Tanqueray bottle is a great piece of design. Bold, architectural, and instantly recognisable. I wanted to celebrate that, letting the form, the glass, and the details speak for themselves.

I shot everything using my custom-built motion control robot. It allowed for precise, repeatable movements, perfect when working with water and reflections. The ability to fine-tune those moments was key to finding the right rhythm between chaos and control.

The project came together gradually, in between commercial work. It took so long that Tanqueray brought out a new bottle before I’d wrapped. Fortunately, the original still has plenty of presence.

Visually, I kept things clean and stripped back. Simple backgrounds, sharp lighting, and lots of attention to how everything moves. I wanted it to feel intentional and elegant, without overcomplicating things.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about making work for the sake of it. Just the process, experimenting, refining, chasing something that looks and feels right.
