After many years behind the camera, being on set is still where I’m happiest. Every shoot is a collaboration, drawing on the expertise of the crew, the agency and the client to craft something beautiful together.
Like much still life, drinks and product photography, my early work chased flawless perfection: impossible liquid splashes and an almost unreal finish. I still love the technical challenge of that imagery, but my style now leans more authentic. As AI floods the world with perfect images, people crave beauty that feels real. So I let highlights bloom, even edging toward blowing out, and welcome small imperfections. Making imperfection beautiful takes a careful hand.
I studied cinema and began my career in the film industry, working on everything from Hollywood features and low-budget films to commercials and music videos. Cinema has always held a special place in my visual style, and bringing it into my photography is where I see my work heading: away from hyper-perfect still life, toward a more authentic kind of beauty that people can connect with.
LED lighting and motion control have revolutionised how I shoot motion. Together, they let me bring my style of photography seamlessly into commercial video. On the day, that means moving between stills and film without interruption: no relighting, no stopping and starting, just one continuous flow.
