THAT SUMMER FEELING - Birra Moretti

For this project, I wanted to create a set of elegant, simple videos of a Birra Moretti glass that really celebrate the glass itself, the colour of the beer, and the movement inside it. The idea was to keep a strong sense of reality running through the whole piece.

Even in the close ups, where things are more abstract, the sound design is doing a lot of the work in the background. You start to pick up little hints of life around you, distant church bells, birds, people passing on the street. It slowly builds this feeling that you are actually somewhere in an Italian village. The aim was to transport the viewer and make them feel as though they were in that space, fully immersed in this quiet, atmospheric world.

I also wanted it to feel approachable and human. That’s why there’s an alternate cut with a partially drunk glass, which helps reinforce that sense that someone has actually been there, it’s a real moment.

Across the whole piece, the lighting was kept grounded and natural, while still elevating the beer in the right way. I leaned into imperfection as much as control, letting highlights gently edge towards blowing out and keeping a warm, filmic grade that feels honest. Together with the sound design, it helps build a space that feels believable.

Here’s a short behind the scenes look at how it came together. I didn’t have much time to capture BTS on this shoot, but there are a few clips that show the setup and the motion control machine in action. On the technical side, I used my custom made 8 axis motion control machine, which allowed for very precise movement, especially when working at high speed, which was essential for getting these shots.
