As usual, this one took a little while to come together. Balancing commercial work and life means carving out time for a spec shoot isn’t always easy, but when I do, I like to make it count.
With this project, I wanted to celebrate Coca Cola in my usual highly polished, technical style, while injecting some life and energy into the frames through light leaks, flares and, of course, that fizz.
I’m really pleased with how the final shots turned out. Coke is a deceptively challenging liquid to photograph. It’s so dark that achieving that beautiful internal glow requires a huge amount of light. There is a fine balance between pushing enough light through the liquid to bring it alive and keeping the richness and depth that makes it feel authentic.
The branding adds another layer of complexity. With the curvature of the glass and the embossed logo, a single frame rarely does the job. It takes multiple shots, carefully blended in post, to ensure the logo feels legible and natural. It’s something I do often, but it always demands a careful hand to make sure everything sits together seamlessly.
Highly technical. Carefully crafted. Just my style.
